Eric and Adam begin the show with making a decision on how to add on muscular body weight. Adam rewinds his life back a few years and tells us that due to a busy work schedule and other commitments outside of the gym his training was taking a back seat to everything else. The question Adam needed to answer was how could he get into the gym and make the most of 30 to 40 minutes of heavy productive training? The book Static Contraction Training changed everything for Adam at that point. Adam tells Eric within six months of implementing this training program he gained more muscular size then at anytime in all of his years of lifting. This was accomplished through training with the biggest weights you could handle at the time. We all know the bigger the load the body can withstand the bigger the strength and size gains we make. I also want to stress the need for a power rack when you’re involved in this type of training. You need to be safe at all times when embarking on this type of training. Adam tells Eric one of the best positions to gain maximum size and strength is at the lockout positions. Adam would normally lockout and hold the bar for 5 to 10 seconds. The next step in this program is your recovery time. Adam tells Eric you would normally take 3 to 5 days off for full rest and recovery to be ready for the next session. Adam stresses that to become very proficient with this program you’ll only need 1 to 3 sets of static lifting in your lifts for that given day. We talk about the show Eric did with Jon Bruney recently called top down. We are taking a goal weight for a particular exercise and building the strength and size to eventually complete it from the parallel position(example with the squat). Eric and Adam can’t stress enough the indestructible body you will create with this type of training. The excitement of handing bigger and bigger weights and thickening the body everywhere will create a world class lifter. The time is now for hitting static holds with urgency and high expectations.
