Bud Jeffries-Combinations and Courage-#488-Eric Fiorillo The Host of The Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Podcast Show Welcomes Bud Jeffries to the Broadcast. Bud is a Strength coach, author, motivational speaker, minister, business owner and one of only a handful of professional performing strongman on tour in the USA. Eric and Bud fire the show right up with why combinations and courage in your training?¬† We define combination training in two different ways. The first way is known as super setting or back to back lifts. An example would be the squat and deadlift. The next combination would be taking one very heavy lift and combining it with a movement based lift. We explore the neurological¬† response to the body. Whats most important here is realizing that the mental responses to lifting big objects goes much deeper into us then we ever thought. Eric and Bud talk about the combination Eric is doing which entails a circus dumbbell, husateel stone and a 2″ axle bent row. The courage just to execute this combination takes lots of grit and guts. We talk about adding all kinds of different dimensions to your training. One example Bud explains to Eric is the ability to get super great with a kettlebell movement. This can be accomplished by adding something very heavy in the middle of these combinations. You’ll build so much new found strength and cognitive power that when you switch back to your higher rep movement your output will be much greater. The idea with combination style training is not to keep stressing the same muscles when you want to create the strongest you from head to toe. One great combination to try is the dead stop squat and kettlebell swings. These two movements work you from head to toe but don’t run over one another when training them hard. Always remember to keep doing the basic movements and add some combinations into the mix.
