Carmen Caputo-Shaking Up Your Lifting-#502-Eric Fiorillo The Host of the Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Podcast Show Welcomes Carmen Caputo to the broadcast. Carmen is a USA Marine Veteran, a Retired School Teacher and a Champion Weightlifter for 56 years. Eric and Carmen briefly talk about raising organic vegetables and some of our family history. It was a much simpler time with a much more common sense approach. Eric and Carmen talk about how convenient things have become which really puts most of us at a disadvantage. We talk about how were more set up for the manual world. Lifting is the key component to that manual world. Everything your doing is a lift, pull or push of some type. What do you do when you hit that brick wall with your training? Do you take the summer off? Do you keep doing the same things over again that don’t work? Do you quit? The answer to all of these questions should be a loud NO! When Carmen begins to see a lag in his training he emphasizes taking less time between sets, adding weights or adding reps to your workout. What these principals will do is shock the body. Will take the example of adding reps to the squat. Instead of doing 5×5 we’ll do 5×8. The body suddenly will be out of its comfort zone and will have to react to the new stimulus. Just by doing this style of training change for three workouts will get you back on the road to making sound strength gains again. We talk about how we all face times of I’ve had enough with my training and I’m done with it. Eric tells Carmen he’s gone down this road many times. The thing that’s most important in that prior statement is, I’m not even down the driveway and I’m thinking about the next workout. I love the iron and all its given to me to ever quit. What about you? Life like lifting doesn’t always go the way you want it at the time. Never let one day judge the rest of your life. Shaking up your lifting no matter what your presented with in the short or long term will always make you a more accomplished strength athlete.
