Eric Fiorillo The Host of The Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Podcast Show Welcomes Chase Karnes to the Broadcast.
Chase Karnes is a national and international level competitive strongman who competes in the lightweight 220 and 231-pound weight classes, trains clients in the private sector for over ten years through Argonauts Fitness, holds a Bachelors of Science Degree from Murray State University and takes just as much pride in his 16 years of under-the-bar experience combined with over a decade of coaching experience.
Eric and Chase start talking right away about strongman success.
We talk about the major exercises which influence strongman specifically. One we feel that is so vital to succeed is the front squat. The front squat will make you such a better lifter strongman because most big lifts are out in front of you.
Eric and Chase describe three strongman lifts which come to mind. We talk about heavy carries, the car deadlift and clean and pressing a heavy log overhead.
Eric and Chase get into the one rep max lifting.
Eric tells Chase why he likes to pound the finer points of this lifting right into the ground.
Eric talks about and tells Chase about an exceptional overhead lifter by the name of Jake Reynolds. At a body weight of 230lbs Jake is log pressing 350lbs, cleaning and pressing huge dumbbells and just moving anything he can wrap his hands around.
Chase being 12lbs lighter just competed in a push pull contest recently and deadlifted raw 675lbs and did a log clean and press with 330lbs. The point we are try to get through to everyone is you don’t have to weigh 400lbs to be a world class lifter.
We discuss why overhead pressing has fallen out of favor, bent rowing and the usual suspects. As Chase said to me these lifts are to dam hard and when ego is heavily involved trainers shy away from these lifts.
We talk about the fear of failure and how we see it as a big character builder.
Eric and Chase deliver big here and fill your heart and mind with massive amounts of content.
