Chris Vachio-Strongman Strength-#544-Eric Fiorillo The Host of The Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Streaming Radio 24/7 Welcomes Strongman, Powerlifter, Bodybuilder and Lifting Competitor Chris Vachio to the Broadcast. Eric and Chris start the show right off with how can we get strongman programs implemented at the high school level? We know a lot of high school football programs have implemented these workouts into there off season programs and the prepping for the initial start of the football season. One thing we both make clear about strongman training is it builds much more confidence then the barbell and the carry over to everyday life is much more prevalent. One of the most important and result producing movements to do is the sand bag clean, bear hug and walk for distance. This will put more muscle on you when practiced regularly then just about anything I have ever worked with in the strength arena. Eric and Chris talk about combining their skills and how they would train young men and woman with barbells and strongman movements. We talk about some of our main movements we would implement into our program so here we go. We would train the deadlift, sandbag lifting and carries, farmers walks and eventually stones with our core of lifters. As Chris told Eric that if he could only do one exercise for the rest of his life it would be stones. I couldn’t agree more with that thought. We talk about the different styles of training we all do and how unique some of these styles are which really translate over to stone training. From tire flipping for hours to loading an olympic bar for multiple sets and reps then loading your bar to maximum weights and doing a few reps. The great thing about strongman lifting is everyone has a style that works best for them. Eric and Chris talk about the importance of strongman mentally for the young lifter. Just working hard for a few hours a week will take the young trainee and turn them into a mental giant. Just shutting off the outside world and concentrating on your health, strength and stamina will have nothing but positive results. Learning structure, deadlines and constant failure will create an everlasting goal succeeding person who will know how to lead and pull themselves up to keep winning in life. If you have a young athlete in your life this show will give you lots of ideas how to make them so much better in their sport. Eric and Chris give you so much of their experiences and how they would structure programs both physically and mentally which a young athlete would thrive and succeed with for years to come.
