Fascia-Eric Fiorillo, The Host of The Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Streaming Radio 24/7 Welcomes Life Chiropractic College graduate, an associate of Dr. John Staples, and a chiropractor who specializes in sports injuries, whole food nutrition, and preventive healthcare Mark Colligan to the Broadcast.Eric and Mark talk about Mark’s early teachings on the fascia and how it was just thought of as packing material. That whole theory and application have been literally turned on its head. Mark explains that the majority of chiropractic work was done mainly on the hard tissue. When we describe hard tissue its better known as joint work.
Mark tells Eric this work was met with some success but there was more to the equation. Thats when he discovered trigger point work. The next phase of body work was ART which really expanded soft tissue work to another level along with elongation of the muscle itself.The next tecnique for soft tissue movement that Mark uses is called Graston . Graston uses an instrument to assist in soft tissue mobilization. This technique enables clinicians to detect and effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions, as well as maintain optimal range of motion. Eric and Mark talk about two instruments which he uses regularly which really help with injury and rehab for both fascia and joint problems. One of the tools Mark uses is called Shockwave therapy and the second one he uses is called Laser Therapy. We talk about the fascia as a whole and how its everywhere in the body. It surrounds everything in your entire body. We discuss how the athlete is much more prone to fascia injuries then the non athlete do to the hevy load your always placing on your body.We talk about the role of fats in our diet such as raw milk, grass fed grass finished meat, avacodos and coconut milk just to touch on a few. Fat is nothing more then fuel for the body whole. Mark talks about how at the Weston Price Foundation healthy groups of people have been studied throughout time to see why they lived longer and lived healthier then their couterparts. The common denominator was fats and not just any fats. They consumed large amounts of saturated fats which until recently were deemed unhealthy for you. These diets studied yielded sometimes 50 to 60 percent of their diet was fat. There was nothing ever indicatiing any cardiovascular disease on this diet.We talk about the role of good fats and there role in brain health. Did you know you brain is 65 percent fat? As Mark said the next time someone calls a fat head say thank you. When people were put on cholesterol drugs and a low fat diet they started to exhibit Alzheimer symptoms and different forms of cancers. This is another reason to make fats a big part of your life. Instead of eating supplements by the handful and drinking protein shakes grill up a nice fatty cowboy steak, drink a gallon of raw milk and finish it off with a fistful of almonds. Fascia and Fats.
