Eric and Jon start the show off with another somewhat forgotten exercise which is the training with Heavy Dumbbells! At the FBC Stone and Steel Yard, we call them Truck Axles the way we like to load them up with Heavy Iron. Eric and Jon talk about his early adventures with Dumbbells and how he would Squat real heavy and press huge Dumbbells because he had no spotters for the barbell bench press. Jon also built his own thick Dumbbell handles wrapping them with loads of duck tape because he didn’t at the time have the money to invest in a thick handle pair of dumbbells.Eric and Jon talk about the conversation Eric had with Martin Jancsics about lifting sandbags overhead and how you will begin to get strong enough by lifting theses various size sandbags to be able to eventually lift any stone off of the ground. Martin is a huge proponent of tire flipping and pressing sandbags overhead to build the power to conquer any heavy stone. I have taken this conversation very seriously and begun training with a heavy 2″ Dumbbell handle Dead Stop Pressing it in my Power Rack Supersetted with sandbag cleans and presses! I told Jon I’m going to really push the heavy dumbbell very hard as I slowly increase the weight of the sandbag!We talk about a couple of other very productive movements with thick dumbbells. The two would be the dumbbell deadlift and the dumbbell bent row. These two incredible strength movement will build you lots of mass and some very strong fingers, hands, and wrists to name a few body parts. Jon also gives us some great tips on how the Dumbbell Deadlift will increase your Rolling Thunder power. Eric and Jon get into another great discussion about one-sided training with thick axles and dumbbells for squatting, pressing and pulling. Jon also gives us another gem about using a thick bar and doing the suitcase deadlift for some serious power. This is another man maker exercise. If you should have two thick bars then do some farmers walks with them for even more power. Talk about building Herculean Strength. We finish our show off with some great tips. Build some monster dumbbells with duck tape, purchase some grip handles of a much bigger diameter which will go over your standard 1″ bar. There are no excuses with this type of lifting. If you have access to thick bars take full advantage of them. Work all of these movements in and out of your training and enjoy the mental, physical and spiritual conqueror you will become!
