Introducing-Eric Fiorillo The Host of The Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Streaming Radio 24/7 Welcomes A College Professor Who Practices What He Preaches, Strength Athlete and Martial Artist Shawn Bjerke to the Broadcast.Eric introduces Shawn to the family. As Shawn said from the very beginning of our interview that you must practice what you preach and he has done just that. Shawn feels if he’s going to teach his students the finer points of physical culture among other studies he just better lead by his example. Through various physical and mental changes, we can conquer anything in our lives. Shawn said one of his big influences was discovering Motivation and Muscle in 2014. He said that he downloaded the first 30 episodes and off he went. He said the Motivation which was displayed throughout the show really peaked his interest!We talk about the evolution of Motivation and Muscle and how many people’s lives it’s touched. We also talk about keeping words and ideas simple so it’s not going over students heads. As Shawn relates to Eric that when he’s teaching science at times big words must be used but he believes in the simplicity of words and not talking down to people. Eric and Shawn talk about the influence we have on our peers and family members and how important their success is to all of us. We talk about Shawn’s influence on both his wife and daughter who both are weight training now and my influence on my nieces and nephew. This can really change a person’s life for the greater.  Shawns story is one that truly could be made into a book. His mother was a stay at home mom while his father worked. After his dad lost his job which he worked his way up into the company he was forced to work many part time jobs so his family could survive. Since the family had many acres of land they were able to grow their own vegetables and his mom and grandmother would can them. They also hunted for the rest of their food. This is what Shawn refers to as living off the land.We talk about training as a kid and not having the barbells to lift. Shawn found that lifting stones, chopping wood and lifting hay bails seemed to build lots of usable strength. Fast forward to 2017 Shawn emphasizes that he doesn’t even need a barbell when nature furnishes you everything you need to lift. What’s the trigger that goes off in us and makes us take this strength voyage were all on? Eric and Shawn believe it could be DNA, strength dominant, life changing experiences or just seeing or meeting someone who leaves a major impression upon you. Shawn and Eric both agree that resistance training and sound nutrition will slow the hands of time. The great thing about this style of training is you can start bettering yourself at any age! We finish the podcast off with giving thanks for your ability to be able to put your feet on the ground and walk. The ability to think at lightning speed. Taking what you’ve learned from the gym and building the mental toughness needed to accomplish the job at hand.  Shawn and I talked a lot about thought, philosophy, and standards and not so much on training technique. Is it not most important to practice your mind technique long before you wrap your hands around a barbell? Think long and hard about that.
