Introducing-Eric Fiorillo The Host of the Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Streaming Radio 24/7 Welcomes The Co-Owner of Black Flag Strength and Fitness, Powerlifter, Strongman and Highland Games Competitor Ryan Stewart to the Broadcast
This is why I’m so passionate about Physical Culture and Podcasting! I want to introduce Ryan Stewart to our M&M Family and welcome Ryan to our family! The first question I always ask new guests to M&M is what got you started into weightlifting? Ryan explains to Eric that he started weight training to get bigger for basketball in high school. He didn’t care much for his coach and the way he was treated by him. Ryan’s father really got the stone rolling for him writing him a lifting routine. The funny thing which happens to many of us is we start initially weightlifting for a specific sport, fall in love with the weights and quit the sport. That’s just what happened to Ryan!
Eric and Ryan talk about some of our favorites in Physical Culture and Ryan emphasized that The Highland Games were his go to favorite. Ryan has competed in the Highland Games for 12 years. For eight of those 12 years, Ryan was a Pro in the Highland Games. We talk about the camaraderie in this sport and how there’s nothing out there like it. Ryan also talks about the training and how great it is to be out there in a big open field throwing for two hours. As Ryan tells Eric. You get to hit the mute button on life for a few hours and do the thing you really love!
We also talk about Ryan’s favorite lift for overall body strength and its influence on Stone Lifting which is no other than the Deadlift! Ryan like myself also uses the Glute Ham Machine consistently to build a heavier Deadlift and to also build much bigger spinal erectors. One of Ryan’s main movements he did prior to last weekends stone challenge in Scotland was Seal Rows. He feels this was one of the movements that really contributed to building a much bigger upper back, especially for stone lifting.
Eric and Ryan finish our superior podcast off with so much training and competition information to not only motivate you but to excite you to where if you’re not lifting stones you just might want to. Eric and Ryan talk about meeting up with Martin Jancsics in Iceland to lift the most famous manhood stone called Husafell or Kviahellan. Ryan also tells us what an influence Martin has been on him when it comes to stone lifting. This is what training is all about. I call it Strength Solitude. Learning to be out in the middle of nowhere doing the things that most people would never attempt to do and succeed over and over again! Two words come to mind when you have this mental appetite. The words are Winner and Champion! Live it!
