Eric and Mark start the show right off with Marks background and what got him into sports. Mark who is originally from Australia was involved in many different sports with soccer and tennis being his favorites. Eric and Mark talk about Mark playing tennis at a very high level and competing all over the world. Due to a career ending injury Mark decided to concentrate his efforts on Sports Psychology. His unique skill set has made him one of the worldwide leading performance experts in the area of optimizing human performance through the application of cutting edge, evidence-based information.We talk heavily about confidence, independence and having trusted advisers advising you  when you feel like everything is falling down around you. What Mark finds with so many athletes and coaches who are constantly jumping around that they are always looking for the better program. Mark tells Eric that what they need to do is stick with a program and give it a solid chance.Eric and Mark talk about the word Health. Eric brought this up because of a recent podcast with Paul FirePower Gray. Paul states that no one starts any program with him unless the individual understands the meaning of the word health and how we build it and hold on to it forever. Mark tells Eric he uses the 98 percent rule with his athletes. Never go to 100 or 102 percent with anything. This will lead to injury and burnout. When performing at 98 percent you’ll always have another day to recover, respond and come back. We talk about active  recovery, ice, compression and the use of these evidence based resources that work and get you back training quicker. There is loads of information here to help you train harder, smarter and recover so you can reach your mental and physical  goals.
