It’s a great idea to do this but after January 31 are you out of gas like most people? I hope the answer is no and you can continue on fulfilling your goals. Even when you are continually moving along and making progress that dreaded word Mentally Stale can enter into the picture. Some of the symptoms of Mentally Stale are negative self-talk, making excuses and not showing up at the gym mentally or physically or both.We talk about routines, habits and the differences each present in our lives. In the case of our gym lifter, it’s very easy to go Mentally Stale when your goals are poorly designed. When the bottom feels like it’s dropping out on you and your level of participation is dying out the obvious response would be to quit. That is the incorrect course of action to take. As the old saying goes any decision is better than no decision at all with most people.Eric and David now will talk about the habitual response that we all need to have in our life with things that are very important to us. In Davids case, it was getting better and more proficient with destroying coconuts with his bare hands. As David tells Eric he was always working at becoming a better craftsman with his technique of breaking coconuts and was doing just that. We all know family obligations and distractions can take us off course at times. This happened with David because he states that he hadn’t made coconut breaking a consistent habit. To stick and succeed with any important goal you must make it a habit! Eric and David now talk about the flip side of Mentally Stale. The words are called Mentally Vigorous! It’s the ability to pick up from where you left off with your training. It’s also the ability to change some movements to get you interest peaked for your training. The best of your Mental Vigor can be summed up with creating that buzz in your head to want to get out there and train no matter what is going on in your life. You become insanely driven to excel and exceed all of your expectations.We finish this outstanding podcast with to words which will change your life forever. The two words are Optimism and Momentum.
