Eric and Dori begin our discussion with the word opinions. I had read a great passage by John Wooden about opinions and now we are going to tell our family on what this means to us. Dori tells Eric about growing up in an alcoholic family and how she although not being a drinker decided long ago to seek a recovery program to be part of rather than live as a childhood victim of this disease.Eric and Dori talk about how she has had and still does not hold a high opinion of herself. Dori explains to our family that on the outside she looks like she has everything really working but on the inside, she comes from many years of family abuse which has to be worked on constantly to live a happy productive life. Dori talks about being emotionally sober every day and how hard it can be at times because of the opinions others held or she holds about herself. This is where the real problems start to grow if you constantly remind yourself of your worth in a negative way.Opinions in today’s world seem to hold way to much water for Dori and Eric. When someone has that type of power over your mind this will literally stop you in your tracks. Since when didn’t your own opinion matter more than others? Why have we let others tell us how good we are, if we should go after a goal or not and all of the what if’s associated with opinions? This is what I call paralysis analysis. The best description of those two words is to stop you in your tracks.Eric and Dori moves right into how food addictions are so deeply rooted in your opinion of yourself. It drills right down into the core of your being. All of your behaviors and the outer image is all driven by the thoughts you have within. You can’t separate the two.The way to start and continue the fight to make your opinion be the only opinion you care about goes like this. As Dr. Wong and Eric have talked about on many M&M shows is to get to know the innate you meaning get quiet and alone and begin organizing some real meaningful ideas and thoughts and begin the start of your greatness. Strive to be your biggest fan and build that brick wall around your mind so only the things you want to get through to you get in. We talk about mental and emotionally resiliency and how vital this is to your life. So many people can’t shut the world off and for this, their life will always suffer. We as human beings need to become quiet and face the things which are holding us down and release life’s grip of fear holding us back. The bottom line is with any kind of health we are experiencing you must take care of you first and foremost. Once you have your arms wrapped around it the rest is up to you.
