Scott Shetler is the owner of Extreme Performance Training Systems, trainer, writer and the host of Strength and Health TV.
Eric and Scott start right off with who got us started in our chosen strength sports.
Scott was a fan of Dorian Yates which as he relates to Eric he was a skinny kid who just wanted to put some size on. Does that ever sound familiar.
Scott walks us through his lifting history. Scott like most of us started out with the bodybuilding free weight style training and having an interest in personal training has lead him into opening his own gym.
His hunger for heavy lifting really grew when he discovered how much he liked to deadlift. Through his contacts with various power lifters he decided to now take up the sport of powerlifting.
Eric and Scott talk about the importance of the big one rep max. Scott believes the one rep max is what draws people to take up the various strength sports. It’s the idea of having something heavy pushing down on you or having to grind out a big pull to completion. Scott talks about how everybody in his gym trains raw and does a maximum lift every week.
