Eric and Charlie both feel that this is a great way to start a whole new generation of future Stone lifters!Eric and Charlie talk about taking a good well-rounded weightlifter and now incorporating that with learning how to stone lift. Two things which must be stressed when starting to train on a stone lifting program are your attitude and to realize right away that a 100kg atlas stone is not the same as a loaded 100kg barbell. Stones can also be very rough when your first starting out. Be ready for some bruises and abrasions especially on your forearms.  But there is also something very primal and satisfying to your spirit.
Eric and Charlie talk about how important the weight room is to get yourself stronger and stronger with the stones. We talk about the practricing of the Zercher lift to get your body down in its lowest position so that movement will have some carry over to the lapping of a stone. The bottom line is to get the true feel for a number of stones you must train with various shapes and poundages of stones. Eric and Charlie talk about why the back is one of the biggest steps you’ll need to thoroughly build up if you want to be a successful stone lifter. Some of the lifts which will help in building your back are rows, shrugs, deadlifts, and partial lifts to overload the back properly. We also address the Glute Ham Machine and what a valuable resource this will be for your back if you have access to one. We finish this excellent podcast off with some great pointers which will lead the way to your successful conquest in stone lifting. The first pointer is the ability to work very hard on a continuous basis. Keep your weightlifting at a very high level and constantly evaluate and reevaluate your progress in the iron and stones. Learn how to shore up any weaknesses which are inhibiting your further stone progress. The biggest things to work on is your form, confidence, and strength.
