Eric and Steve jump right into how Steve was a former gym owner for 13 years and how he became involved in the families hardware business thereafter. Steve like his family members all brought their unique passions to the business. As Steve tells Eric he brought his love for the strength sports to the business which in turn has brought the world stone molds, circus dumbbells and pressing logs. We talk about building the atlas stones and how we can build more weight into the stone mold. This can be accomplished by a loading pin in the center of the mold with any size plate loaded onto it. We talk about stone conditioning and how using a lighter stone initially will get you in much better shape quicker. We both feel that strongman is the hardest discipline out there. Nothing comes easy and hard work and patience is the only way to succeed. Eric and Steve talk about one of Eric’s favorites routines which will really send your mind and body into orbit. Go with the combination of the glute ham raise, York iron boots and the dead stop squat. Your legs will feel like you have missiles attached to them. The pump and the strength you’ll exhibit is unparalleled. We talk about gym life and the importance it has in everything you do. As Steve tells Eric, even if you get in the gym and do a few sets of squats the endorphin’s take over and 3 sets of squats turn into 8 sets and the positive effects of training happen. Bill Hinbern-Ken Patera-#477-Eric Fiorillo Host of The Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Podcast Show Welcomes Bill Hinbern to the broadcast. Bill is a strength historian, a strength athlete who is dedicated to over 50 years of teaching the value of strength and physical culture and the owner of the world famous Superstrengthtraining.com web site. Eric and Bill kick the show into high gear with the genetically gifted Ken Patera. Ken was involved in track and field, Olympic Weight Lifting and Strongman. Ken was fully dedicated to track and field but an ankle injury cut his career short. From there he put all of his effort into the shot put and the discus throw. As Bill tells Eric he excelled in the shot put but after a poor finish in a meet he concentrated solely on Olympic Weight Lifting. Ken was a giant in Olympic Weightlifting winning several medals at the 1971 Pan American Games. In America Ken was a Champion four different times from 1969 thru 1972. He was the first American to clean and jerk over 500 lbs (227 kg), which he did at the 1972 Senior Nationals in Detroit. He is also the only American to clean and press 500 lbs (227 kg). Ken was the last American super heavyweight for years to excel at weightlifting at an international level. Eric and Bill talk about the rumors that Patera had pressed off the racks a 550-pound overhead push press. Patera always had one obstacle he could never shake by the name of Alexeev who always came out on top. Once the clean and press was eliminated from competition Patera retired from Olympic Weightlifting.  Patera also competed in the first Worlds Strongest Man in 1977. He finished third behind Bruce Wilhelm and Bob Young. Eric and Bill discuss Patera’s arrival into professional wrestling. He wrestled mainly for the World Wrestling Federation, National Wrestling Alliance and the American Wrestling Association during the 1970s and 1980s. The Battle Cry is our topic for today’s show. Eric and Adam hit all of our family with a mental body slam right out of the gate. Eric and Adam can’t help but be excited for everyone listening when it comes to our topic called The Battle Cry. What do those three words mean to you? Eric and Adam define these three words as digging in deep, setting achievement goals, and getting there with the most grit, might and mental endurance you can muster. The Battle Cry has you at that point where its you and only you who can and will set the stage for the things you hold dear within your heart. Every man and woman has this within. The problem with the majority of people is they’ve never stretched themselves emotionally to get at it. We keep it buried deep inside and at times it will take shape and challenge us.
