Bill Hinbern-Bob Bednarski-#500-Eric Fiorillo Host of The Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Podcast Show Welcomes Bill Hinbern to the broadcast. Bill is a strength historian, a strength athlete who is dedicated to over 50 years of teaching the value of strength and physical culture and the owner of the world famous Superstrengthtraining.com web site. Eric and Bill lead the podcast off with the importance of weightlifting and how it can be such a positive influence on you for a lifetime! From there we get right into Olympic Lifting heavyweight Bob Bednarski. Bednarski was born on April 5, 1944 and passed away on February 22, 2004. He set 12 world records in 1968–69. He won three medals at the world championships, including a gold in 1969. Bednarski’s lightning quick agility and technique defeated much bigger and strong competitors. The Soviet athletes copied Bednarski’s successful style of Olympic Lifting and were able to duplicate his success. During the 1967 Pan American Games Bednarski suffered a career threatening elbow injury. He recovered from the injury and the next year set two world records at the national championships. Eric and Bill talk about how Bednarski was the last senior weightlifter in the USA to hold the highest totals for the two Olympic lifts.  In 1983, Bob was inducted into the United States Weightlifting Federation Hall of Fame. In 1990, he was inducted into the New England Hall of Fame.  Bednarski was married to his wife  Kathy for 29 years. They had a son Bobby and a daughter Sheryl. Bednarski came from a large family having had three brothers and three sisters. He loved animals and owned three poodles. We talk about how many great lifters initially started weight training to improve there given sport but soon come to realize that they want to participate competitively. We also address the lack of manual labor in today’s world and how it directly effects how physical you are. Bill and I really get into the doer’s of the world. Eric shares with the family a deep story about his brother Jimmy that everyone will find inspiration in and understand how certain things in our life will influence us to greatness. Are you a winner? Mark Watts-Introduction-#484-Eric Fiorillo The Host of The Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Podcast Show Welcomes a fifth grade school teacher,  competitor in powerlifting, strongman, and Olympic Weightlifting and  USMC veteran Mark Watts to the Broadcast. Eric introduces Mark to our family for the first time. We start right off in prime fashion with learning to step back from training and coaching and finding new ways to bring our training back to much higher levels and to reinforce our minds that it’s possible again. Eric tells Mark about his bicep tear in Iceland and how that one event in his life changed all of his dynamics to creating a successful training success. Eric tells Mark about a good friend of his who was a superior Olympic Lifter and got a lower back injury. After much rehab he was back to his old form. Then something strange kept happening. Every time he got close to his peak lifts another injury occurred. We know now that he just never mentally recovered and when fear has that kind of grip around you a come back is short lived. We talk deeply about success, goals and growing with experience. Mark talks heavily about experience and how real success can come easily but can you step up when adversity is thrust right into your face? We talk about the monster amount of information there is out there today and what applies to your coaching and training and what does not. Mark tells Eric that we all need a filter when it comes to what we apply to our training success.  We talk about who your training with and how important it is to have others around you with your gym success in mind. Steve Cotter-Kettlebells Meet Strongman-#481-Eric Fiorillo The Host of The Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Podcast Show Welcomes Steve Cotter to the broadcast. Steve is the Founder and Director of the IKFF, champion athlete, kettlebell trainer, martial arts trainer, and an expert in the human performance fields. For anyone who really wants to build slabs of endurance into their strongman program do we have a blast of strength and endurance for you. Eric and Steve are going to teach you how to marry these two sports together. The three strongman movements were going to use today are the tire flip, stone carry and the farmers walk. Steve describes how kettlebells which will be much lighter then the strongman movements we do will have a much more pronounced effect not only on our endurance but will really condition our nervous system. When you have those two areas covered victory is yours.  We talk about working it in to your strongman program and describe how to execute the KB Swing and goblet squat holding for time. Just to give you a great tip for stone lifting the goblet squat will teach you how to get low enough to wrap your arms around those big stones so you can tear them right off the ground. We also talk about a great way to stretch the hip girdle out thoroughly using a kettlebell and two cinder blocks.  Another kettlebell movement which we covered on the podcast is taking a kettlebell and with one arm locking it out overhead and carrying for distance. This will make you very stable through the midsection and protect you shoulders from injury. We also like to use the swing for a finisher after all of the tire carries, farmers walk and stone carries. This will not only aide in your recovery but will reinforce why your doing this in the first place. Do you want speed, strength, endurance and the vision to see it through? The Battle Cry is our topic for today’s show. Eric and Adam hit all of our family with a mental body slam right out of the gate. Eric and Adam can’t help but be excited for everyone listening when it comes to our topic called The Battle Cry. What do those three words mean to you? Eric and Adam define these three words as digging in deep, setting achievement goals, and getting there with the most grit, might and mental endurance you can muster. The Battle Cry has you at that point where its you and only you who can and will set the stage for the things you hold dear within your heart. Every man and woman has this within. The problem with the majority of people is they’ve never stretched themselves emotionally to get at it. We keep it buried deep inside and at times it will take shape and challenge us.
