THIS IS MORE FOLLOW-UP TO THE FBC SQUATTING SERIES…. LATELY I HAVE BEEN DOING ALOT OF EXPERIMENTING WITH DIFFERENT BARS HERE AT THE FBC STEEL AND STONE YARD…. I ‘VE ALWAYS BEEN A BIG SUPPORTER OF IRONMIND  AND ATOMIC ATHLETIC PRODUCTS…. OVER THE YEARS I HAVE ACCUMULATED QUITE A BIT OF THEIR EQUIPTMENT IN THE FBC GYM…. TODAY WERE GOING TO DEAL WITH IRONMINDS APOLLON AXLE…. NORMALLY WHEN I SQUAT I USE EITHER THE BUFFALO BAR OR THE S-CUBED…. I DO THIS BECAUSE OF THEIR QUALITY AND THE ADDED ROOM WHEN MOVING THE LOADED BAR OFF THE PINS….. A FEW WEEKS AGO I WAS DOING SOME ONE SIDED TRAINING WHEN THE LIGHT BULB IN MY HEAD WENT OFF…. WHY NOT SEE HOW IT FEELS TO DEAD STOP SQUAT WITH IT…. THIS IS A VERY THICK BAR…. YOUR HANDS AND WRISTS WILL BE TESTED RIGHT AWAY…. I ALSO FOUND IF YOUR UPPER BACK IS NOT DEVELOPED ENOUGH THE BAR COULD ROLL ON YOU…. YOU REALLY HAVE TO POSITION IT CORRECTLY ON YOUR UPPER BACK….  THE ONE THING ABOUT THE APOLLON I REALIZED RIGHT AWAY IS HOW MUCH UPPER BACK WORK YOU GET JUST BY ACCIDENT…. IT’S GREAT TO GET SO MUCH OUT OF A BAR AND A SQUAT…. BECAUSE OF THE GIRTH OF THIS BAR IT REMINDED ME OF  PICTURES OF THESE HUGE OXEN WITH THE BIG YOKE AROUND THEIR NECKS…. NOW I GET THIS IDEA TO WRAP THICK TOWELS AROUND THE CENTER OF THE APOLLON JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT…. I WANTED TO FEEL LIKE AN OXEN…. NOW WHEN I SQUEEZE UNDER THE BAR I HAVE THIS BIG THICK FEEL SURROUNDING MY NECK…. IT JUST MADE ME FEEL STRONGER…. THE BAR LOOKED EVEN MORE POWERFUL….NOW IT WAS TIME TO SQUAT…. AFTER WORKING A FEW OF THE KINKS OUT I WAS READY TO GO…. IT FELT GREAT…. HAVING TO LOCK YOUR HANDS AROUND AN OVERSIZED BAR AND CONTROL IT, PLUS THE ADDED FEEL OF A YOKE PUSHING IN ON YOUR NECK ONLY MADE ME FEEL MORE LIKE GOING ALL BALLS OUT…. I HAD A GREAT SQUAT WORKOUT AND PLAN ON HONING THIS EVEN MORE…. MORE TO COME…. SO GET OUT THERE AND DARE TO BE SEPERATED FROM THE PACK….. INOVATION!!!! GOOD LUCK AND LIFT HEAVY AND HARD…. NO EXCUSES!!!! ROCK SOLID!!!!

THIS WEEK ON THE FBC THOUGHT OF THE DAY SERIES I’VE TOUCHED UPON THE SQUAT…. I’VE  ADDRESSED SOME OF THE DISTURBING TRENDS WITH THIS VERY POWERFUL MOVEMENT…. I’VE BEEN EXPERIMENTING WITH THE ONE LEGGED SQUAT…. THIS MOVEMENT IS A TRUE MAN MAKER….  OVER THE LAST FEW MONTH’S I’VE BEEN TRAINING ONE SIDE OF THE BODY TO…. THIS IS A VERY UNIQUE STYLE OF TRAINING…. THIS TAKES A WHOLE DIFFERENT THOUGHT PROCESS WHEN WORKING OUT…. IT’S VERY INTERESTING TO COME UP WITH IDEAS AND PUT THEM INTO ACTION…. MORE ON THIS LATER…. BACK TO THE ONE LEGGED SQUAT…. I WOULD NOT GO NEAR THIS MOVEMENT UNLESS YOU HAVE A POWER RACK…. LET’S GET TO THE NUTS AND BOLTS OF THE WORKOUT…. FIRST I SET THE RODS AT A 3/4 SQUAT PARTIAL POSITION…. IF YOU’VE DONE PARTIALS IN THE PAST I WOULD SUGGEST THAT PIN LEVEL AS A STARTING POINT…. OBVIOUSLY MAKE ADJUSTMENTS WHEN NECESSARY…. THE NEXT THING YOU WANT TO DO IS SET THE BAR ON THE PINS…. I USE IRONMINDS APOLLON AXLE…. I DO THIS BECAUSE I LIKE THE THICKER BAR…. I WOULD ALSO WRAP A THICK TOWEL IN THE CENTER OF THE BAR…. THIS WILL TAKE SOME OF THE STING OUT WHEN YOU SHOULDER THIS BAR…. REMEMBER YOUR PUTTING THIS ACROSS ONE SHOULDER…. THE BRUSING AND ACHE WILL GO AWAY ONCE YOU HAVE SQUATTED THIS WAY FOR AWHILE…. THE NEXT THING TO DO  IS TO CENTER YOUR BODY UNDER THE BAR AND WRAP YOUR HANDS AROUND IT…. TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND EXPLODE THE WEIGHT UP AS YOUR PUSHING OUT THAT INHALED BREATH…. STAND UP STRAIGHT AND PUT THE BAR BACK ON THE RODS…. YOU WILL BUILD A MIDSECTION LIKE NO OTHER DOING THIS GREAT EXERCISE…. GIVE IT A REAL TRY…. STICK WITH IT AND STRIVE TO KEEP ADDING WEIGHT TO THAT BAR!!!! I WILL BE GOING INTO MORE ON THE ONE LEGGED SQUAT AND ON TRAINING ONE SIDE OF THE BODY…. TILL THEN KEEP GROWING!!!! NO EXCUSES!!!! ROCK SOLID!!!!
