WHY I LOVE SNOW, COLD AND WIND!!!!

I WAS OVER AT DANGEROUS DAN’S HOUSE LAST NIGHT WHEN THE SNOW WAS REALLY FALLING!!!! I STOP OVER EVERY SATURDAY TO SEE THE FAMILY…. THIS SATURDAY WE HAD THE GIFT OF SNOW!!!! DAN, MYSELF AND THE CEO OF FIORILLO BARBELL ALL WENT OUTSIDE TO SHOVEL AND MASH THROUGH THE SNOW!!!! WE WE’RE OUTSIDE FOR ALMOST TWO HOURS ,ENJOYING A SIMPLE PLEASURE CALLED SNOW!!!! THE AIR WAS CRISP AND THE WINDS WERE WISPERING THEIR OWN TUNE…. IT DIDN’T COST A DIME TO TRULY HAVE AN ENJOYABLE TIME WITH THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE!!!! NO EXCUSES!!!!

ASPIRIN AND (AMD)!!!!

Aspirin Worse Than We Thought…

The highly questionable Dr. Oz calls it a “miracle pill.” But don’t believe it for a second! We’ve told you before how daily aspirin is actually doing more harm than good.1

And now researchers found that people who use aspirin routinely double their chances of developing age-related macular degeneration (AMD).2 This disease damages the retina, causing blurry vision.3 And in many cases, vision loss. In fact, it’s the leading cause of blindness in America.

The research, published in The Journal of the American Medical Association, used data from the Beaver Dam Eye Study. It followed about 5,000 people in Wisconsin for a 20-year period.

Subjects completed eye examinations every five years. During the exams, researchers asked patients about their weekly aspirin use.

Based on the response, researchers found a strong link between how long ago a person started using aspirin routinely and their risk of AMD. People who reported taking aspirin routinely 10 years before the eye exam had an increased risk of AMD.

“It may seem out of the blue, but there’s something about latent exposure that carries forward,” said lead author Dr. Barbara Klein.

She went on to say that people shouldn’t stop taking their aspirin for heart protection. “It’s better to have blurry vision but still be here to complain about it than it is to die of a heart attack.”

Of course we couldn’t disagree more on that point!

No one wants to end up blind. Nor do they want to die of a heart attack. But you can prevent both… naturally with no side effects.

What’s more, this isn’t even the first time a study has linked aspirin to eye disease.

Another study published in Ophthalmology also found that seniors who take a daily aspirin are twice as likely to have a form of AMD.4

Researchers can’t say for sure that the frequent aspirin use caused the disease. But two separate studies link the drug to AMD. That’s enough evidence for us. Especially when you add the other side effects of aspirin such as ulcers, internal bleeding, and even death.

There’s just no good reason to put your stomach, eyes, and even life on the line. Not when there are safe alternatives out there. If your doctor recommends aspirin to protect your heart, try rutin. It’s a compound found in onions, citrus fruits, and apples. It also comes in supplement form. It’s safe and effective in preventing blood clots. It’s even shown to be better than prescription drugs. But best of all it comes with no side effects. And definitely no deaths.

And to keep your eyes healthy pack your diet with foods rich in antioxidants. Especially lutein and zeaxanthin found in dark leafy greens such as spinach and kale.

Cruciferous vegetables such as arugula, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and kale may help reduce cancer risk, U.S. nutritional experts say.

Vicky Newman, director of Nutrition Services, Cancer Prevention & Control Program at the University of California, San Diego, Moores Cancer Center, said cruciferous vegetables contain sulfur compounds that support the body’s detoxification system.

For example, dithiolthiones and isothiocyanates seem to increase the activity of enzymes involved in detoxifying carcinogens.

lndoles, another cruciferous compound, appear to alter the metabolism of hormones in ways that might help prevent or reduce the growth of hormone sensitive tumors, Newman said.

Newman suggested surprising holiday guests with a cruciferous vegetable-rich salad featuring holiday colors made with crunchy bok choy, red peppers, shredded carrots, green onions and peanuts. This salad recipe is included in the cook book “Food for Thought: Healing Foods to Savor,” authored by nutritional experts at the University of California, San Diego, Moores Cancer Center.

ARE YOU TIRED OF EXCUSES????

Is it me, or has the WHOLE wide world just become one BIG EXCUSE???? Every time you turn around, I Cannot do this or that because he said or she said blah, blah, blah!!!!

I’m writing this article to tell you that it’s time to throw a STEEL MONKEY wrench into the big EXCUSE WHEEL and stop it for GOOD…. MAN UP AND TAKE RESPONDSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS!!!! What kind of example are you teaching those around you???? Every time something doesn’t go your way, it’s the CRY OF PERSECUTION…. Get rid of this mind and body numbing feeling once and for all…. There are always going to be friends and family who will give you an arm full of excuses why things didn’t get done. It’s especially disheartening when they espouse to you that they will have it done, but never follow through…. This is when you have to take the BULL BY THE HORNS and follow through…. YOU and only YOU know what’s best for yourself…. This is where IRON AND STONE should jump right out at you. The vast majority of STRENGTH ATHLETES I HAVE had the honor of meeting don’t make excuses…YOU have a few STRAGGLERS along the way but they usually drop to the way side. When you’re constantly being tested or knocked back you have to rise to the occasion….Should you fail and we all do, you’ll get it another day!!!! NO EXCUSES!!!! ONE thing I’ve learned about myself over the years is that no matter how many times I’ve been beaten down, I always get up…. You forge a will which can’t be broken….  Look, we all have a pity day here and there but the winners in life not the whiners always find a way to snap back…. THEY look for the GOOD in things. GRATITUDE makes the difference…. YOUR life will throw many obstacles at you and forks in the ROAD…. WHEN you feel that you have been bruised and battered I say bring on some more…. People who have done great thinks went from here and hell back to achieve mental and physical greatness. I’m in the process of getting ready for another ICELANDIC voyage in 2013. I train outside all year round…. This will be the first year I will use limited heat to train. NO, I’m not talking frost bite here either…. I feel in my case, I need to get as raw and defiant as I can toward that stone. This touches on MENTAL TOUGHNESS once again…. These endeavors are not for the faint of heart or for the lifters who like to hear themselves talk…. This HUSAFELL STONE COULD KILL YOU…. I will need maximized strength and superior MENTAL TOUGHNESS…. EXCITING, EH???? So today, tomorrow or next year put yourself to the test….SO, get bent back a little, scraped up and FORM some ice on your wings…. Most of all, NO EXECUSES!!!!
