HOW MUCH FUN IS THIS????
By: Eric Fiorillo
This article is going to be a short one, but very insightful….Its SUNDAY and I’M Training at the FBC STONE and STEEL GARAGE/YARD… Today’s work revolved around the H1 HUSASTEEL MID RANGE OVERLOAD, PULLOVERS AND BACK RAISES as the PRIMERS today… I will tie UP the LOOSE ENDS near the end of the article. I just rejoice at the idea I have another shot to go out and work hard at the FBC TRAINING YARD… It feels so GOOD to face off with the PRIMERS I have to do today… I always go out with a big dose of confidence and get started…. Now it’s pretty cold out today inNew Yorkwith light snow falling…. I have a decision here to make right away on how much heat to run in a garage filled with lots of frosty air surrounding me. I’m stripped down to my FBC TSHIRT AND SWEATS…. I decide 45 degrees will work…. The thermostat will do the rest…. I like training this way because it keeps me moving and very motivated… Didn’t I say this was going to be SHORT one???? HERE’S THE BEST PART!!!! EVERYTHING was right on the mark with the primer lifts…. Remember, I was going to tie up the loose ends???? Well here WE GO!!!! I always do as much as I can outside…. A lot of my training requires that …. I had big heavy DUMBBELL SWINGS AND NECK WORK TO DO!!!! When I opened the garage door, there was the SNOW…. It was really coming down…. I got right out there and started my DUMBBELLS SWINGS AND NECK WORK; IT was SNOWING AND BLOWING ALL around me…. I was in a big winter blanket….YOU know what???? I loved it…. TO STAND there feeling everything coming at me was one of the best experiences I have ever felt…. I never tire of being tested…. Isn’t that something to think about???? Don’t take life for granted…. Live life… Don’t let life live YOU!!!! GO OUT AND HAVE SOME FUN!!!! NO EXCUSES!!!!

A Most Delicious Way to Boost Brain Function
The researchers split the subjects into three groups. One group drank 990 mg of this food in liquid form daily. Another group drank 520 mg. And the third group consumed 45 mg of the liquid.
After eight weeks the subjects took tests to examine their cognitive function.
The subjects who consumed the most of this drink had significantly higher cognitive scores. They had better hand-eye coordination and verbal memory. And they performed better at task switching than those who consumed the least amount of the food.
So what is this brain food?
Chocolate. But not just any chocolate… dark chocolate.
A food that is craved by so many actually helps our memory.
Chocolate is loaded with flavonols. It’s also high in magnesium, vitamins A, B1, B2, D, and E.3 Its powerhouse of antioxidants help fight off free radicals. That keeps our bodies healthy and strong.
“This study provides encouraging evidence that consuming cocoa flavanols, as a part of a calorie-controlled and nutritionally-balanced diet, could improve cognitive function,” said lead author Dr. Giovambattista Desideri.
You read it. Doctor’s orders… we can enjoy the rich, creamy treat without feeling guilty.
But how exactly does chocolate help our brain?
The flavonols improve blood flow to the brain. That in turn boosts your memory and alertness.
Researchers from the University of Nottingham in England discovered chocolate’s capabilities in a study using MRI’s.4 For their study they had subjects drink cocoa as well. They then performed MRI scans to test specific parts of the brain.
After consuming the cocoa, subjects had better blood flow in key areas of the brain for up to three hours. From the scans researchers saw that blood vessels were dilating, allowing more oxygen to enter the brain.
Researchers stated that cocoa’s ability to increase blood flow could be a potential treatment for vascular impairment such as dementia.
Chocolate as medicine? Sounds almost too good to be true.
This doesn’t mean you can load up on candy or chocolate cake. Dark chocolate contains the highest levels of the brain boosting flavonols. And a little bit goes a long way.
Of course, go organic and make sure it doesn’t contain a ton of sugar. The chocolate should contain at least 70 percent cocoa. You’re not going to find that in most candy bars so be smart about your choices. A few pieces of this dark, sweet delicacy may just keep you living and thinking longer.

Study: Too many marathons can kill
United Press International
Running too many marathons in a lifetime could be dangerous for the heart and lead to an early death, U.S. medical researchers said.
The heart is only designed for “short bursts” of intense activity said a study by Dr. James O’Keefe and Carl Lavie of St. Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Mo., and the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, La.
Marathon running forces the heart to pump massive amounts of blood for hours at a time, leading to overstretching of the heart’s chambers, thickening of its walls and changes to electrical signaling, Britain’s Daily Telegraph reported Thursday.
“In addition, long-term excessive exercise may accelerate aging in the heart, as evidenced by increased coronary artery calcification, diastolic ventricular dysfunctio, and large-artery wall stiffening,” the researchers wrote in their report published in the journal Heart. “… Running too fast, too far and for too many years may speed one’s progress towards the finish line of life.”
The damage caused by a marathon will rapidly heal, though repeated endurance exercise can lead to scarring, The Independent reported.
“If one really wants to do a marathon or full-distance triathlon … it may be best to do just one or a few and then proceed to safer and healthier exercise patterns,” the researchers said.
