Dr Geoffrey Smith is a Strongman, Sand Bag Lifter, Power Rack Trainer, Blog Writer and Medical Doctor. This is a story that is so inspiring it will set your brain on fire. Eric and Geoffrey take a time travel back to 2015 when Geoffrey contacted Eric for some online instruction. We hit it off right away and after going over some short goals which Geoffrey accomplished we started him out in the world of sandbag training. Geoffrey like so many of our listening family had a podcast on which described the movement fully and what physical and mental gains would be derived from it. Geoffrey tried the routine and loved it and is still excelling with heavier sandbags. As Geoffrey explains to Eric that he was listening to another podcast when the subject of Dead Stop Squatting came up. Upon further discussion Eric and Geoffrey executed a plan to begin. Eric explained how much different this was from a rebound squat and how much mental energy he would have to build up to be successful with this protocol. I’m pleased to say that within the next two weeks around mid July Geoffrey will give everything he has to double his dead stop squat. When he started out his maximum weight was 145lbs. Geoffrey will now go after 302.5lbs. What an amazing feet of strength. As Geoffrey tells Eric  he’s just a 184 pound lifter that wanted to put it all on the line.  I believe he’s a lot more then that. He’s a winner. Eric and Geoffrey talk about the mental adjustments he had to build to complete theses high stakes squats. The biggest thing that’s come out of this training is he has created a new attitude, monster self-confidence and the ability to handle situations of high pressure so much better. This story which is far from over will surely influence you to be the best version of you. Maybe all you’ll need is to be introduced to the Dead Stop Squat! Delays. We’ve all had them.

Eric and Geoffrey discuss how work, family, injury and just day to day life can really screw our training up if we let it.

The main thing to think about is not why me but how am I going to take the situation at hand and build it into goals and gains.

We’ve talked about the  ability to create standards in our life and when things veer off course we always have a plan of action to implement to get our mental and physical ability back on course.

This gives us a chance to evaluate the situation at hand and take charge.

Once were back in the groove of training new gains and goals will be recognized. The feeling of wrapping your hands around a bar is so exciting or nailing a dead stop squat for the first time in a long time.

Delay’s are temporary but lifting is for a life time. The iron will always watch over you. All you need to do is practice patience and dominate and obliterate everything from this point on in your path.

There is nothing we can’t do.

Take pride and live exceptional. For this is the only way to your continued greatness!

On today’s show Eric and Geoffrey really talk about planning, goals and the power of thinking big and exploding it into unstoppable action. This year has seen a huge change in Geoffrey’s  training and successes. One in particular is his transition from sandbags to stones. This was a big achievement considering he had never lifted even a sandbag in his training. Eric and Geoffrey came up with a way to get started. By taking a risk the reward was even better. Geoffrey learned to believe in himself and built the confidence with the sand bags to transition fully into natural stones. One thing Geoffrey mentioned which I feel is so much a part of the adventure is going out and gathering stones. The excitement in his voice was so inspiring that anyone who was on the fence about lifting stones might just be trying them right now. Not only has this training changed Geoffrey physically but he has now become a mental giant. His interest in physical strength has stretched through ordering books, new lifting equipment and a desire and will to become better and better. Strength is truly contagious! Geoffrey has now begun to start some serious rack training to go along with his stones and sandbags. We’re already discussing dead stop squatting for his continued growth and the consistent building of body power and mass. See what happens when you think big? The results just keep coming.
