Eric describes to Erin and the audience how he rows with a loaded Olympic Bar and Thick Handed Dumbbells for great gains. This was a very popular topic Coach Rob Regish and I covered on Motivation and Muscle a few weeks ago. Some of our listeners felt the Podcast was to short so I expanded on it more with Erin. We talk about the different variations of rowing I do to achieve not only the thickest back I can build but the strongest muscular biceps I can muster. Did you know the bent row can build a much meatier bicep then the actual standing barbell curl? Stone Lifter great Dr. William Crawford can attest to that. If you like stones insert the bent row into you’re program. We talk about partials with both the Olympic Bar and The thick handled Dumbbells. We cover how many sets and reps would work when training the bent row. I also talk about the other exercise I feel that works so well with the bent row for added strength and muscular mass. I will tell you what it is in another Train and Gain in the future. Erin comes through with another award winning  post workout recovery smoothie. She calls it the  Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie and gives a detailed. recipe. We all know with Thanksgiving And Christmas getting closer we see Chestnuts everywhere. Eric and Erin continue their series on building massive functional arm strength from your finger tips to the top of your tricep head. We begin talking about how to strengthen the fingers. We hit upon using and squeezing a tennis ball, soft balls and using various equipment such as titans telegraph. We also discuss how useful stones can be to accomplish this feat and how to gain  strength and hand size off  of this. From the fingers and hands we tackle the all important wrist. We talk about the value of wrist rollers and how useful they are in building the girth of the wrist. They also build the most important thing you’ll need to lift large awkward objects. Wrist Rollers will build and aid in greater ligament and tendon size. We talk about the importance of thick bar training for seated wrist curls addressing the under hand and overhand styles. As we move up to the forearm I’m a big fan of doing standing reverse curls with a two inch or three inch bar for this movement. When your using a thicker bar it works the whole arm. The best thing about thick bar training your grip is the limiting factor. This will force you to learn and complete the lift properly. It will also beef up the whole arm. The next forearm movement that really puts some mass on my forearms was walking with large stones and squeezing  them as hard as possible. It will create some pain initially but watch and feel how pumped up your forearms will become. Erin has created another winner with her Banana Bread Smoothie post workout drink. Train and Gain-Thick Triceps, Pumpkin Protein Smoothie and Venison Hungarian Stew-#303-Eric Fiorillo Host of Train and Gain of The Motivation and Muscle Podcast Show Welcomes Co-Host Erin Mackin to the show. Erin is a marine, nutrition coach, owner of Paleo Effects, Strength Trainer and Coach. Eric and Erin continue our series on how to build big arms, wrists, fingers and forearms. In today’s episode of Train and Gain we work on building thick triceps.  Let’s give you some brief history on the tricep muscle. Triceps comprise more then 2/3rds of your upper arm. Triceps thickening will assist you in the bench press, Pressing overhead and  calisthenics such as push-ups. I’ve listed five exercises below which will deliver what you need when trained directly to the tricep muscle. If you commit to working hard and have the patience to stay the course big results will follow. Here they are in no such order. Take anyone of these movements and push it full throttle.

1-Dips for the triceps

2-Skull crushers to the forehead

3-Clean and Press standing triceps extensions behind the head with a dumbbell.

4-Close Grip Dead Stop Floor tricep press. Push with all your might off the long rods.-Power Rack

5-Overloading the triceps in the power rack at various heights.

*Reps and sets are at your discretion. If your training the big four compound movements work these movements into your routine. Some examples are: 5X5, Singles, Pyramiding-8-7-5-5-4, 3×7 etc. You can do one huge set with all the weight you can handle for the reps you choose. After you’ve put that inch on your arms training we need a good post workout drink to keep the strength gains coming. Erin delivers that with her own Pumpkin Protein Smoothie. Train and Gain-Huge Biceps, Mocha Smoothie and Protein Pancakes-#296-Motivation and Muscle Host Eric Fiorillo Welcomes His Co-Host Erin Mackin To The Fifth Installment Of The World Famous Train and Gain Podcast Show. On today’s podcast we talk about a training subject everyone loves. Huge Biceps, Big Arms, Bulging Biceps. However you want to coin the name or phrase nothing sticks out more then a big upper arm. Were going to do a series of shows on how to build huge arms. Today Eric and Erin will focus on some of the exercises which will deliver the goods to build ultra strong and functional arm strength. We start out with the thick handled dumbbell  row. This is not only an exercise for the upper back and lats but it is one of the best exercises for the biceps especially if your a stone lifter. The next exercise we talked about was the bent over row with an  olympic bar or Apollons Axle. Either bar is great to use. When I use the Apollon Axle for extended periods of time the biceps appearance looks much more dense. We also talked about throwing some car tires on the bar for look and bounce.  The next exercise we talked about was the Apollon Axle barbell curl with an isometric hold at mid point in the power rack. This exercise will build the arms from fingertips to traps. Holding for time against the rods will build ligament and tendon strength like no other and deep deep muscle bellies. Sets and Rep ranges are explained through every exercise movement. Erin gives us another masterful post workout drink titled Mocha Smoothie. As Erin explained this is a smoothie you can make and drink anytime throughout the day. For all of us who are going to need some extra protein after that brutal arm workout. Erin gives us the recipe for her Protein Pancakes. Erin even went out and tested every kind of protein to see what works best in this recipe to give you the gains and taste everyone craves. Eric Fiorillo-The Ace in Your Deck-#243-I decided to do a short podcast on my own. From time to time I like to express my thoughts on various subjects pertaining to lifting. Today I talk about injuries. This is not a subject we like to think much about but it does happen and we must put our best foot forward to get back on track as quickly as possible. I target my shoulder injury and talk about what I’ve been doing to get me back training powerfully and mentally to bridge this issue I’ve had to work around. That’s a very important aspect here. You must train around the injured area so progress can begin in other areas of the body as well. This is why I call this podcast  The Ace in Your Deck. By this I mean ,you always have a hand or two to play. If you live by this rule no matter what the events you have encountered you will always create a way to train and get smarter and stronger.
