Jon tells Eric the show is going to be very powerful and primal. So here we go. Eric and Jon start right off with the 4 D’s and how two of the 4 hormone exercises aren’t trained anymore. The two I’m referring to are  the dumbbell clean and press and the dip. With the edition of the deadlift which will be our primary movement of the four our hormone system will be going full throttle. Jon believes we should always have a big pull, press and Squat to round out any routine he constructs. We talk about dumbbell deadlifts either for warm-ups or implementing them into your program along with the standard barbell deadlift. Jon tells Eric wait till you see the carryover into the barbell deadlift after spending some time working the dumbbell deadlift. We talk about doing these various lifts and some that are not widely used today in physical culture. As Jon said one injury can change everything when it comes to our lifting. We must all learn to train from every angle to bullet proof our body. We talk about our primal needs to train and become the best version of you. Two many people never give themselves the opportunity to gauge what there threshold of strength is. The reward for learning your strength is you’ll break through that mind barrier that so many of us have lived by for way to long. With the summer weather fast approaching who doesn’t want to have a huge set of pipes or guns hanging off their shoulders?

Big arms are something everyone admires whether your in the iron game or not. Eric and John talk about how important it is to work the arms especially the bicep. This is a body part that is usually neglected and handles so much of the load especially during stone lifting.

Eric and Jon discuss bicep injuries and why they occur. These injuries occur when a stone is lifted incorrectly, weak ligaments and tendons and from not training the bicep at many angles to create a bullet proof arm.

Speaking of weak links with most strongman movements. It’s normally the bicep which is that link. We need to understand that you can have the strongest hip girdle, hamstrings, lower back and posterior chain but if the biceps are weak that stone is not coming off the ground. If you keep trying to pull that stone the bicep will tear.

Eric and Jon give you some different bicep exercises which as I mentioned above will train the bicep at every angle.

Jon tells Eric how he is using a muscle stimulator to drill down as deep as he can into the bicep for developing more strength and health in his biceps.

Eric tells Jon about his new pressing discovery which really hammers the tricep along with the other body parts that come into play.

Eric is floor pressing a loaded 55 gallon drums and pressing a 2″ 100lb dumbbell inside his power rack. Eric goes back and forth. Just think about the power and size your triceps and biceps will eventually have.

Jon describes a product he invented called the gym keg. This was a keg with 3 different handles and sized handles where once again the arms, especially the biceps, would be hit at various angles.

Once again this podcast is loaded with everything you’ll ever need to build tank like arms. Grow, Grow, Grow!

Eric and Max start the podcast off with how to build a very strong lifting foundation through multiple disciplines.

Max believes that a good way to find out how great you can be is to learn how to do many forms of physical culture to see where your passion lies. This is very important because by building so many of styles of training this can only make you a better athlete when you settle on one specific discipline.

Eric and Max agree this should not limit you to getting involved in other sports which attract you. We also agree upon that once you’ve done all the ground work the universe of physical culture is yours.

One example Max and Eric talked about was what if you didn’t like to do pull ups for shoulder and upper back development what would you do?

When we want to foundationally build strong shoulders  and the upper back the exercises could be dumbbell presses, power clean and press, shrugs or any type of heavy pulling movements.

The point of this whole show is that there is always something out there to work on so your body will feel like an oak tree rooted right into the ground. This is where foundations come from.

Another huge topic was Max’s new book called Simple Shoulder Solutions.  How many of us have had shoulder problems past and present?

As Max tells Eric this course will take your shoulders from broken to unbreakable.

One interesting aspect in the 3’s is the 80 percent rule. We can’t always have a 100 percent training day with the weights but with the 80 percent rule even on a lighter day you’ll still leave a little in the gym. This will enable you to have those big days again and stay injury free. Longevity is yours with a little common sense training. Your gains in size and strength will  increase once again.

Eric and Eric kick the podcast right off with building joint health which will last you a life time.

Eric and Eric explain fully that joint aches, cracking and in some instances being practically disabled will not bode well for your lifting career.

Eric tells us he was facing this hard reality and decided to change his training program for a short spell. When he changed his training to using machines  and some body weight movements for a short duration he found that the aches were starting to disappear. Some of his older injuries he had accumulated through the decades were minimized.

Eric said that he has started to work out with free weights again and he is beginning the break in phase. Eric explains that his body feels great and the weights are moving quickly, explosively and he is building so much strength and power. It just goes to the point that subtle changes for a short period of time can really renew and refresh your body.

Our next topic of conversation was how to alkalize your body. We all know when your in an acidic state the potential for disease is quite prevalent. We talk about a few of the steps you’ll need to take to get your health on the right track.

We finished off the show with how is the best way to fully recover your body from vigorous exercise? One example of this is to practice full joint mobility exercise.

As Eric related to his own story where he had injured a ligament in his ankle. He was told it would take 18 months to heal. Eric was sick of the pain and decided to do some joint mobility research. After finding out what he had to do to recover from his injury his 18 month prognosis for healing was solved in one week.

This consisted of the hand/thigh deadlift, Husasteel Stone Walk and the Strict Barbbell Curl. We talk about lifting the Atlas Stones and doing heavy distance walks with the Husasteel Stone. We also talk about the power of partials relating to pulling super heavy Husasteel Stones.
