Nothing measures up to isometric work like a program loaded with pulls and pushes. You can become real creative with odd objects and make some massive gains when used in the same capacity.

Bill March was constantly featured in articles demonstrating the power you could generate via using large weights and traveling any distance you chose to push against.

The rack solved a lifters weak points thus building not only more strength, ligament size, tendon size and thicker bones and thicker muscles.

The ability to be so strong on your feet is the reason why this type of training is so prevalent in martial arts and wrestling.

When you can be so anchored to the ground and have such explosion in your musculature  not much out there will defeat your skills.

Isometrics will demand from you like no other sets of exercises but will reward you with a big thick massive physique which will be usable in the real world. You will have a physical and mental resolve like no other.

So invest in yourself, a power rack and a whole bunch of isometrics.

Roger has the old power rack courses from York Barbell which we reference quite a bit during the podcast. We especially concentrate on one of the all times greats from York Barbell namely Bill March. Bill was a big proponent of the power rack and Roger describes what he did to attain a 190lb physique via the different lifts he used to build deep thick dense muscles, cable like ligaments and tendons and a mind as sharp as a steel bear trap. We describe in detail how by working the body to its zenith via the overload principal the fear of any lift will disappear. When your body has continuously worked with weights that might be two or three hundred pounds heavier over your best total poundage suddenly things don’t seem so heavy or daunting. This show has so much information for any athlete who really wants to give the power rack a try. The only thing that might happen is you might have to buy some new clothes. FBC THOUGHT OF THE DAY!!!! SQUATTING AND THE APOLLON AXLE!!!!

THIS IS MORE FOLLOW-UP TO THE FBC SQUATTING SERIES…. LATELY I HAVE BEEN DOING ALOT OF EXPERIMENTING WITH DIFFERENT BARS HERE AT THE FBC STEEL AND STONE YARD…. I ‘VE ALWAYS BEEN A BIG SUPPORTER OF IRONMIND  AND ATOMIC ATHLETIC PRODUCTS…. OVER THE YEARS I HAVE ACCUMULATED QUITE A BIT OF THEIR EQUIPTMENT IN THE FBC GYM…. TODAY WERE GOING TO DEAL WITH IRONMINDS APOLLON AXLE…. NORMALLY WHEN I SQUAT I USE EITHER THE BUFFALO BAR OR THE S-CUBED…. I DO THIS BECAUSE OF THEIR QUALITY AND THE ADDED ROOM WHEN MOVING THE LOADED BAR OFF THE PINS….. A FEW WEEKS AGO I WAS DOING SOME ONE SIDED TRAINING WHEN THE LIGHT BULB IN MY HEAD WENT OFF…. WHY NOT SEE HOW IT FEELS TO DEAD STOP SQUAT WITH IT…. THIS IS A VERY THICK BAR…. YOUR HANDS AND WRISTS WILL BE TESTED RIGHT AWAY…. I ALSO FOUND IF YOUR UPPER BACK IS NOT DEVELOPED ENOUGH THE BAR COULD ROLL ON YOU…. YOU REALLY HAVE TO POSITION IT CORRECTLY ON YOUR UPPER BACK….  THE ONE THING ABOUT THE APOLLON I REALIZED RIGHT AWAY IS HOW MUCH UPPER BACK WORK YOU GET JUST BY ACCIDENT…. IT’S GREAT TO GET SO MUCH OUT OF A BAR AND A SQUAT…. BECAUSE OF THE GIRTH OF THIS BAR IT REMINDED ME OF  PICTURES OF THESE HUGE OXEN WITH THE BIG YOKE AROUND THEIR NECKS…. NOW I GET THIS IDEA TO WRAP THICK TOWELS AROUND THE CENTER OF THE APOLLON JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT…. I WANTED TO FEEL LIKE AN OXEN…. NOW WHEN I SQUEEZE UNDER THE BAR I HAVE THIS BIG THICK FEEL SURROUNDING MY NECK…. IT JUST MADE ME FEEL STRONGER…. THE BAR LOOKED EVEN MORE POWERFUL….NOW IT WAS TIME TO SQUAT…. AFTER WORKING A FEW OF THE KINKS OUT I WAS READY TO GO…. IT FELT GREAT…. HAVING TO LOCK YOUR HANDS AROUND AN OVERSIZED BAR AND CONTROL IT, PLUS THE ADDED FEEL OF A YOKE PUSHING IN ON YOUR NECK ONLY MADE ME FEEL MORE LIKE GOING ALL BALLS OUT…. I HAD A GREAT SQUAT WORKOUT AND PLAN ON HONING THIS EVEN MORE…. MORE TO COME…. SO GET OUT THERE AND DARE TO BE SEPERATED FROM THE PACK….. INOVATION!!!! GOOD LUCK AND LIFT HEAVY AND HARD…. NO EXCUSES!!!! ROCK SOLID!!!!
