Eric Fiorillo Host of The Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Podcast Show Welcomes Sonja Taylor to the Broadcast. Sonja is an Arm Wrestler, MAS Competitor, Strongwoman and Co-Owner of Epic Fitness Solutions with Will Dinwiddie.
Eric and Sonja kick the show right off with this question posed to Sonja. Why Strongman?
Sonja explains to Eric that she was a very good long distance runner but that just wasn’t enough. With her children grown she decided she needed to build a strong powerful upper body. This is when she went to see Will for the program she needed to accomplish her goal.
Sonja started with a 50 pound log which led into sandbags which led into round atlas stones and steel Husafell stones. We talk about Husasteel Stone training and the reasons why this training is better than anything out there for all around conditioning and strength.
Eric gives Sonja plenty of examples of what they do at the FBC Steel and Stone Yard. Sonja tells Eric that the Husafell Stone is one of her favorite implements to train with.
We talked about the car deadlift and how popular it was at Epic Fitness. Everybody was deadlifting their own cars. Sonja was training this lift for a strongman meet coming up. She ended up winning a trophy for the meet because of her outdistancing her competition in the car deadlift.
We talk about nutrition and your training. Sonja prefers a plant based diet with some meat during the week, seeds and lots of juicing for her health. Just think.. A 50 pound log changed Sonja’s life.
