Brittany tells Eric that she keeps telling herself that the next record will come as planned and be broken as planned. This is a prime example as to why Brittany talks about her rise in Strong Woman is do to it being 50 percent mental and 50 percent physical. We touch upon building self confidence which is truly the only way to succeed with the grind of weightlifting. Brittany talks about the pros and cons of being out there in the strength community. We talk about injuries and how they can change the dynamics of your life. As I told Brittany they can be a blessing in disguise. Brittany talks about the frustration about not being able to train to your full potential at that time but she’s used her injury to educate others and inspire others. Eric and Brittany talk about the dedication it takes to reaching our training goals. The majority of us work a full time job or own our own business so our goals are always a constant pursuit. So lets get together here and go after some big things. Raynor tells Eric that’s he’s got a huge highland games event at the amateur level coming up. This is all part of of a strength package hosting cross fit events, Giants Qualifier, stone lifting events and speakers such as Strongman Bill Kazmier.  Another big thing about Raynors Highland Games meet is depending on where he places in the contest he has a chance to get his pro card. Something very important we hit upon right away is the word self-confidence. Raynor understands the field now and has the experience to reformulate his thinking and approach to this monster contest he’s part of. Your thinking is and will always be the defining moment in anything you do. Raynor talks about his progression into the strength sports with it all starting when he joined the army. Raynor tells Eric that after his day was done the only thing to do was pump iron. So all he really ever did was benching and shoulder work. He didn’t do any leg work because they were always running. Then one day his roommate introduced him to squats and deadlifts. Raynor was now hooked with building the lower body and this started his progression into the strongman world. Eric and Raynor talk about building super strength through grip training. Just a few to really pay attention to are the farmers walk, event training, carries and hanging from a chinning bar to name a few. We talk about the strength and mental factors when lifting a hugely famous stone. Not only is it something that has been here since the beginning of time but the culture, history and who has held it and lifted it is such a big factor.  We talk about the importance of taking care of yourself and becoming a physical and mental machine. Steve Cotter-Kettlebells Meet Strongman-#481-Eric Fiorillo The Host of The Award Winning Motivation and Muscle Podcast Show Welcomes Steve Cotter to the broadcast. Steve is the Founder and Director of the IKFF, champion athlete, kettlebell trainer, martial arts trainer, and an expert in the human performance fields. For anyone who really wants to build slabs of endurance into their strongman program do we have a blast of strength and endurance for you. Eric and Steve are going to teach you how to marry these two sports together. The three strongman movements were going to use today are the tire flip, stone carry and the farmers walk. Steve describes how kettlebells which will be much lighter then the strongman movements we do will have a much more pronounced effect not only on our endurance but will really condition our nervous system. When you have those two areas covered victory is yours.  We talk about working it in to your strongman program and describe how to execute the KB Swing and goblet squat holding for time. Just to give you a great tip for stone lifting the goblet squat will teach you how to get low enough to wrap your arms around those big stones so you can tear them right off the ground. We also talk about a great way to stretch the hip girdle out thoroughly using a kettlebell and two cinder blocks.  Another kettlebell movement which we covered on the podcast is taking a kettlebell and with one arm locking it out overhead and carrying for distance. This will make you very stable through the midsection and protect you shoulders from injury. We also like to use the swing for a finisher after all of the tire carries, farmers walk and stone carries. This will not only aide in your recovery but will reinforce why your doing this in the first place. Do you want speed, strength, endurance and the vision to see it through?
